Owls Alive
Player of the Season 2009/10

James O'Connor
The single consistent shining light over the course of what was a dismal season was Dublin-born James O'Connor whose performances saw him rake in exactly 100 more stars than his nearest challenger, Darren Purse. Although the latter scooped more individual Player of the Month awards winning each of the final three his abysmally poor first half of the season cost him (and us) dearly.
Third spot surprisingly went to the seemingly unpopular, Darren Potter, who never quite hit the early heights which saw him take the August PotM award.
Despite starting nine fewer games with 32 than Marcus Tudgay and scoring a goal less with nine the top striker award went to Luke Varney. Saviour that never was Francis "VFM" Jeffers amassed 13 stars which was unlucky for us - he would get 20 goals a season at Donny though.
Over the course of the season six different players took monthly awards with Michael Gray and Lewis Buxton taking the outrights for September and November respectively and the latter also pinching the ASS award for December from Des.
Cheers and thanks for voting during 2009/10 - let's hope for a better season in 10/11.
