2009/10 Season Fixtures Preview

Will we hit the 16.5k mark in 2009/10?
The Laws/Strafford challenge for the play offs begins with a home fixture against our Barnsley cousins where the Wednesday Massive will look for an improved performance on last season's showing. The Owls then face the Posh in the away opener and will hope to avoid their first defeat against Peterborough since 1978.
Our heroes travel to the apostrophically challenged St James Park (portentiously) on the second Wednesday of the season to take on the financial muscle of the Geordie Empire and will surely want to take advantage of any early season slumpage.
The first part of another Pids double will surely be secured away on the 19th September (which coincidentally is my birthday). The return game takes place on the 17th April when the original Blades will put the imposters to the sword.
A tough Christmas period sees the Geordies make their first trip to S6 for nearly a decade on Boxing Day before festivities with the Seasiders when the four calling birds land.
Easter brings mediocre fare with QPR away on the Saturday and Bristol at home on Easter Monday.
Wednesday can book their place in the top six with final fixtures, around the seminal Pids game, against Middlesborough and Cardiff away before a final day at Mecca with the Palace.
